Assisted E-Commerce: Initiation of agent based new business model
With an aim to spread e-commerce services to the remotest places across Bangladesh, leading online marketplace AjkerDeal.com and retail service brand PayWell initiated a new business model named Assisted E-Commerce.
The business model was inaugurated on March 19 in an event held at BASIS Auditorium and the launch plan was shared with journalists.
A large population lives outside the net of internet access and online payment facilities will be able to shop online through 2000+ PayWell agents located in semi-urban and rural areas, according to a press release.
Online products available at AjkerDeal.com will be displayed on the PayWell App.
Agents will assist customers to choose from online catalog, place orders and take payments and customers will collect products from the PayWell agent point as soon as the products will be delivered there.
Fahim Mashroor, the chairman of AjkerDeal highlighted that despite having huge opportunity, online shopping has not progressed much due to low internet penetration and online payment. He told that assisted e-commerce network will help to solve such problems and more orders will be coming from outside of Dhaka if this model becomes successful.
Anisul Islam, the chairman of PayWell told that such initiative is first of its kind in Bangladesh. Customers can get multiple services like mobile recharge, electricity bill payment, train/bus tickets purchase, DTH/Wi-Max subscription fee payment etc from PayWell agents. In addition to these, now they will be able to enjoy online shopping services using the same platform.
Among others, Managing Director Faizul Hamid and Chief Marketing Officer Mohammad Kudratullah of PayWell and CTO Rony Mondol and Business Head Shourav Kabir of AjkerDeal were present in the event.
