7 hottest tech trends of 2017
THE DAWN OF VIRTUAL REALITY
Did you know, studies by various top research firms have indicated that the virtual reality product and content market is going to be a $30 Billion industry
by 2020? Yes dear, VR is going to be everywhere. Starting from movie theaters to theme parks to schools to churches – it's going to be all over the place. With Oculus Rift, Vive, Gear VR, Day Dream view available now, we predict more makers will be here this year.
DAYS OF DATA AND PRIVACY
Last year, one of the big questions that everyone had is how much personal data are flying around in servers and how secure are those. In light of the
recent discoveries of alleged Russians hacking US elections and the 1 billion Yahoo! account data being hijacked, this year all eyes will be on big corporations that's storing our personal data and what safety measures are they taking.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AFTER MATH
We all are aware of the pledge that Mark Z. made; working on small AI projects in the last year. We already have seen that trend to kick off. Mark has an Amazon Echo- inspired AI called JARVIS (inspired from the fiction AI of Iron Man) that's integrated with his smartphone and multiple other devices at home. In 2017, we are expecting to see more of these technologies being commercialised.
SMARTER SELF-DRIVEN CARS
We expect the 3rd gen smart cars will be rolled out this year. With Tesla spearheading the revolution, we are seeing more big names joining the Autonomous Car's Club. BMW, Mercedes Benz, Ford and many others have already committed that by 2017 they would have functional commercial autonomous cars. There are some
legal barriers to the adoption of these autonomous vehicles globally, nevertheless we are optimistic about it.
DELIVERY DRONES ARE ON THE WAY
Amazon is certainly leading in this front with other massive online/ delivery based commences trailing just a little behind. We already have seen them testing out drones for delivery. In 2017, we are predicting drones will be making actual delivery at least on a limited scale basis on a controlled environment. This, we believe, is going to radicalise the last mile delivery of products. Can you imagine how many businesses will be effected by this particular initiative?
Goosebumps!
BEGINNING OF BETTER & BIGGER BATTERIES
What was the single most annoying technological pain point for anyone? For me it was battery. Well, some of you might disagree saying we have power banks now.
Technically that's not true cause you still need to charge another additional device. But this year, we expect the battery technology will leap forward so that we don't need to carry those bulky power banks.
Fingers crossed!
BIG DATA ANALYTICS ARE HERE TO STAY
So we talked about AIs and Data and even privacy. But there's one element that went missing. Well not missing per se, but this year we expect it go
even better. We are creating data at an unprecedented rate and these are not just text data. The video and audio data that we are creating are now being analysed and in the year 2017 it's going to form the shape of an industry.
