Robi fined for false offer
After Grameenphone, another mobile operator, Robi, has been fined by a government agency today regarding its duping packages followed by a customer's complaint.
The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection slapped the penalty of Tk 5,000 on Robi after the hearing on a complaint made by a customer Mohammad Rubel Mia, said Shaheen Ara Mamataz, the deputy director of the agency.

"The mobile operator paid the fine at once and complainer also got one fourth of the sum," Mamataz added. Rest of the money was deposited to the national exchequer.
However, Robi declined to comment on the issue.
Earlier, on Sunday, the same agency fined Grameenphone Tk 2.50 lakh in a similar case.
Three months back Mohammad Rubel Mia purchased an offer from Robi, a sister concern of Malaysian company Axiata group. But upon feeling cheated he registered his complaint before Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection.
Through an SMS the mobile phone operator offered that customers could have "unlimited 16GB", 6 GB in 3G service and 10 GB in 2G segment, upon paying Tk 746, said Mia.
"I purchased the offer but could only use some part of the 10GB data," Mia added.
Mia complained on 'unlimited' issue where he said 16GB can't be termed as unlimited.
Mamataz said they have some other complaints which are under investigating or hearing process.
