Regent flies to Doha
Regent Airways began its first flight from Dhaka to Doha on Friday night.
"Regent Airways is committed to giving passengers a taste of home in the air," said Lt Gen (retd) M Fazle Akbar, its chief executive officer, at the inaugural ceremony of the airline's Doha flight in Doha on May 21.
Speaking at the programme as chief guest, Ashud Ahmed, Bangladesh's ambassador to Qatar, said the two countries are working to upgrade bilateral relations, not only in the field of economy but also in the sector of cultural exchange. "I hope Regent would play a role in this regard."
The programme held at Doha Marriot Hotel was attended by Akhtar U Ahmed, chief commercial officer, Rehan Ali Syed, country head of Regent's GSA, Mohammed Al Hashemi, sponsor of GSA, Anisul Alam Chowdhury, head of marketing, Rahul Bhatkoti, head of Regent's airport operations, and members of the Bangladeshi community in Qatar.
The first flight was welcomed with a water salute at the Hamad International Airport in Doha. The ambassador received the passengers.
