Exposition on infrastructure development begins in city
A four-day exposition began in Dhaka yesterday with an aim to promote development of green industries and raise awareness about environment protection, technology and innovation.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu opened the Ninth Bangladesh Infrastructure, Innovation and Development Expo and Dialogue, at Bangabandhu International Con-ference Centre.
ExpoNet Exhibition Pvt Ltd organised the event in collaboration with the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority and the power cell.
Sixty companies from six countries, including Bangladesh, are showcasing energy-efficient and innovative industrial technologies, products and services at the event, the organiser said in a statement.
International experts, senior government officials, local businessmen and specialists would exchange knowledge on eco-industry in six different sessions.
The sessions will focus on innovation and development in industries such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, garment, construction, leather and energy, said Rashedul Haque, managing director of ExpoNet Exhibition.
Salman F Rahman, private sector development adviser to Awami League President Sheikh Hasina; Ahmad Kaikaus, secretary of the power division; Mohammad Hossain, director general of the power cell; Taqsem A Khan, managing director of Dhaka WASA, and SM Formanul Islam, CEO of Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund, were present at the opening ceremony.
The event is open to visitors from 10am to 8pm.
