‘Burdwan blast linked to Trishal militant snatching’
Bangladeshi and Indian intelligence agencies believe that the Trishal militants snatching and Burdwan blast had been carried out by a same militant group, a top police official in Dhaka said this afternoon.
“Both the sides will work jointly to capture the militants who were behind the two incidents,” said Monirul Islam, joint commissioner of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the visiting team of Indian National Investigation Agency at Police Headquarters in Dhaka, he said both the sides have reached an understanding to work together to combat militancy.
At the meeting, the Bangladesh side has submitted a proposal to its counterpart seeking to visit India for investigating the militants who flew from Bangladesh, the police official said.
In response to the proposal, the Indian side has shown positive gesture, Monirul added.
The Indian side also handed over to Bangladesh intelligence agencies the photographs of some suspected militant operatives who went into hiding after the Burdwan blast, the DMP spokesperson said.
