Burdwan blast: Dhaka team to meet NIA officials in Kolkata Friday
A seven-member team, comprising high-ups from intelligence and law enforcement agencies, has reached India today to look into how Bangladeshi militants are operating in India.
The team led by joint commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Monirul Islam left for India around 4:00pm, a home ministry official said.
The other member of the team are, GM Azizur Rahman, additional deputy inspector general of special Branch; Col Abu Hena Mostofa, psc, director of National Security Intelligence; Lt Col Mohammed Abul Kalam Azad of Rapid Action Battalion; Mahfuzur Rahman, assistant inspector general of Police Headquarters; Md Ashraful Islam, senior superintendent of police of Criminal Investigation Department; and Maj Mohammad Atiqur Rahman of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).
The visit follows the one by the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) to Dhaka earlier this month.
The delegation will share information with NIA about the activities of militant group Jama’at-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in India and will help the Indian intelligence agencies to locate them, said a member of the Bangladesh delegation.
The meeting with NIA officials will be held in Kolkata on Friday.
NIA has set up a camp office at Salt Lake of Kolkata to investigate into the Burdwan blast incident.
