10th Anniversary of UAP's EEE Department
The 10th anniversary of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) was observed with a two-day comprehensive programme on August 21 and 22.
Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice Chancellor of UAP, inaugurated the event on August 20.
Professor Emeritus Abdul Matin Patwari, former Vice Chancellor of UAP; Professor Dr. M.R. Kabir, Pro Vice Chancellor; and Dr. Md. Sekendar Ali, Professor and Head of EEE, attended the event.
Students, staff, faculties and alumni attended and enjoyed the two-day programme.
Cultural programme at IUB
For the ninth consecutive year, the Bangla Language Institute (BLI) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has hosted a group of American students to learn Bangla language. Under the Critical Language Scholarship Programme of the US government, this year thirteen US students participated in this nine-week course.
On completion of the programme, BLI organised a cultural programme titled, “Banglai Bandhi Gaan” on August 18 at the IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. The foreign students performed to share their overall experiences in Bangladesh during their stay.
US Ambassador Dan W. Mozena; South Korean Ambassador Lee Yun-young; Chairman, IUB Board of Trustees, Rashed Chowdhury; Vice Chancellor, IUB, Professor M. Omar Rahman attended the programme as guests and spoke on the occasion.
The programme started with a welcome speech and an overview by the Deputy Director of BLI, Razima Selim Chowdhury.
Career Fest 2014 at UIU
United International University's (UIU) Career Counseling Center organised a day-long Career Fest 2014 on August 23 at UIU auditorium. Professor Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, Vice Chancellor, presided over the ceremonies while Rashed Tanvir, General Manager, Central HR & Administration, BEXIMCO; Nisbat Anwar, Head of HR, Aarong; Md. Waheduzzaman, Head of HR, LG Butterfly; Samsul Alam, Head of HR, PRAN were present as the speakers.
At the Career Fest, speakers discussed different aspects of the recruitment and selection process in the corporate sector including CV writing, leadership development and corporate etiquette.
The speakers also advised students to be more attentive to their academic studies to face the challenges of the present job market.
Among others, present at the seminar were Habib Abu Ibrahim, Treasurer; Professor A.S.M. Salahuddin, Registrar and Manjurul Haque Khan, Director, Career Counseling Center, UIU.
BUBT Observes National Mourning Day
The 39th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangladesh, was observed at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) at its campus in Rupnagar on August 15. Special prayers and discussion were arranged on this day.
The chief guest was Vice Chancellor of BUBT, Professor Md. Abu Saleh. The Dean of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Abu Taher Majumder, and Proctor, Professor Mian Lutfar Rahman, also participated in the discussion. A large number of students, teachers and officials of BUBT were present at the event.
