Bomb blasts at Ctg police station, 2 cops hurt
Two policemen were injured, one critically, when a crude bomb went off inside Pahartali Police Station of Chittagong city early today.
The explosion occurred around 12:30am when the law enforcers were making a seizure list at a room in the police station after arresting a youth with handmade bombs, a lighter gun (LG) and a bullet, reports our Chittagong correspondent quoting Officer-in-charge Hafizur Rahman.
Injured Zahangir Alam, inspector (investigation) of the police station, and Fazlul Haque, a sub-inspector, were admitted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) with severe splinter injures.
Later, Zahangir was shifted to Chittagong Combined Military Hospital for better treatment, said Pankaj Barua, assistant sub-inspector of CMCH police camp.
Earlier around 8:00pm yesterday, police arrested Bashir, 23, from his residence in AK Khan area of the port city with the LG and bombs.
