Bodies of 2 missing students recovered

Bodies of two, out of the four, university students were recovered this morning two days after they went missing in the Bay at the St Martin’s Island.

A group of fishermen found the first body around 9:00am when they were fishing at the west end of the island, reports our correspondent quoting Sub-inspector Abdul Haque, in-charge of St Martin police outpost.

The fishermen traced the second body in the same area around 11:15am and informed the members of Bangladesh Coast Guard, said Shahid Al Ahsan, station commander of local coast guard.

Two students of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology drowned and four others went missing in the waters of St Martin's where they went to celebrate Pahela Baishakh on Monday.

The four missing students are Sabbir Hasan, Shahrier Islam Noman, Uday Mahmood and Ghulam Rahim.

Police and coast guards are confirmed that the bodies are of two, out of the four, missing students but they are yet to confirm the identities.

Navy, Coast Guard and around 12 trawlers owned by locals are jointly conducting the operation in the Bay of Bengal for the two missing students.
