Bodies of 3 Bangladeshis reach home
The bodies of three Bangladeshi workers, who were killed in a construction site accident in Malaysia on Monday night, reached home today.
A flight of Bangladesh Biman carrying the bodies landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital around 6:30am, said Mohsin Chowdhury, director of Wage Earner's Welfare Board of the expatriates' welfare and overseas employment ministry.
The bodies of Elahi Hossain, Alauddin Mollik and Faruk Khan were handed to their families at the airport around 8:00am, he said.
The ministry handed over Tk 35,000 to family of each of the victim as burial costs, Chowdhury added.
It will give Tk 3 lakh to each family as financial assistance, said Khondaker Showkat Hossain, secretary to the ministry said yesterday.
Malaysian rescuers on Tuesday recovered the bodies of Elahi, Alauddin and Faruk after a segmented box girder of an elevated guideway collapsed on them at a construction site in Petaling Jaya.
Elahi and Alauddin hailed from Ishwardi upazila of Pabna and Faruk from Sirajdikhan upazila in Munshiganj were working legally as construction workers for Malaysian Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) from May this year.
