BNP reschedules human chain for Sep 2
The BNP-led 20-party political combine has deferred its human chain protest scheduled to be held across the country this morning due to the ruling Awami league's mourning programme.
The BNP will observe the human chain on September 2 instead, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, acting secretary general of BNP, announced at the party’s headquarters at Nayapaltan in Dhaka in the morning.
The announcement came couple of days after the AL had requested its arch rival to withdraw the human chain programme considering its rally at Suhrawardy Uddyan as part of its month-long programming in August chalked out to mourn the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 1975.
Earlier on Monday, the BNP-led alliance announced the human chain to mark the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances.
Police did not issue the alliance permission of holding any human chain in Dhaka.
