Blast at Narayanganj court premises, 1 held
An explosion, believed to have been set off by a crude bomb, took place at the premises of Narayanganj District and Sessions Judges Court today.
There were no injuries in connection to the explosion that took place in a public toilet inside the court premises around 1:30pm, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.
However, police detained a woman, allegedly a beggar, Champa Begum in this regard.
As to the extent of damage caused by the explosion, according to witnesses Majeda Begum and Kabita Begum, the window panes of the toilet were smashed.
They claimed that some lawyers received bomb threats through mobile messages before the blast.
A panic was prevailing at the court premises following the explosion. Law enforcers were frisking everyone under watchful eyes before letting them enter.
High officials of police and leaders of Narayanganj Ainjibi Samity (local lawyers’ association) visited the spot after the explosion.
Subrata Kumar Haolader, additional superintendent of police in Narayanganj, said law enforcers were looking into the matter and probing its involvement with militancy.
