The authorities of Birdem General Hospital today filed a case against a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) officer for instigating attack on three doctors of the hospital following the death of a patient a week ago.
Additional Superintendent ABM Masud Hossain was withdrawn Wednesday following angry protests and a two-day work abstention by the aggrieved physicians.
Sirajul Islam, 57, who had long been suffering from diabetes, died at the hospital on April 13. Later, the patient's relatives assaulted and injured Dr Anowar Hossain, Dr Kalyan Devnath and Dr Shamima Akter of Endocrinology department.
The doctors later claimed that Masud instigated the relatives for assaulting their colleagues.
Md Manik Mollah, senior security supervisor of Birdem, filed the case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka today against four persons including Masud by names and at least 22 unnamed people.
The three other accused are: Ishahaq Hossain Babu, Assistant Personal Secretary (APS) of Begum Munnujan Sufian, Farhana Nasrinn, daughter of Sirajul and one Abir Hossain.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mizanur Rahman heard the charges and has decided to deliver an order in this regard later in the day.
