A Narayanganj court on Wednesday placed a youth on a seven-day remand in connection with the murder of student Tanvir Mohammad Toki.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Monoara Begum granted the remand after police produced Rifat bin Osman before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.
Police on Tuesday night arrested Osman, 20, at Amlapara in the city for his alleged involvement in the killing, reports our correspondent quoting Syed Nurul Islam, superintendent of police.
Osman is the son of Osman Gani of Kalirbazar area of the city.
The body of Toki was found on the bank of Shitalakkhya river on March 8, two days after he went missing.
Toki, a brilliant student who recently completed his A Level with astonishing results, was the son of Narayanganj Gonojagoron Mancha Convener Rafiur Rabbi.
Meanwhile, Rabbi in a letter on Wednesday afternoon requested the SP of Narayanganj to remain alert so that no suspect can sneak out of the country.
Rabbi on March 18 submitted a written complaint to the SP naming seven suspects, including former lawmaker Shamim Osman and his son Ayon Osman, in connection with the murder.
