On April 12, 2013 the volunteer group Agamee and the Student Affairs Office of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) held a “Women’s Self Defense Workshop” with Judo expert Nayana Chowdhury, Assistant Director of the Physical Education Centre of Dhaka University. Twenty-two dynamic female ULAB students took part and learned how to protect themselves from physical attack.
Trainer Nayana Chowdhury demonstrated techniques with her colleague, Md Pervez, and held a practice session for the participants. The workshop was a part of Agamee’s mission to combat violence against women and communal violence. Agamee was founded by Ananta Yusuf, a journalist, along with ULAB students and ELT Professionals Rebeka Badiozzaman and Afia Alam.
