Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus on Monday expressed his willingness to discuss with the government ways to resolve the ongoing political crisis, if the latter wants.
“Leaders from different political parties are coming to discuss with me the issue. It’s them who are coming to me, I am not going to them,” he told reporters after a meeting with Bangladesh Kalyan Party top leaders.
“Likewise, if the government wants to hear my words on the issue, I will happily agree to sit with it,” he said.
Yunus reiterated that the caretaker government is the best system.
“If the national election is held under the method, there will be less confrontation.”
Kalyan Party Chairman Maj Gen (retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim led the delegation to meet the Grameen Bank founder at the Yunus Centre in the capital.
After the meeting, the BKP chairman told reporters: “We are here to show support to Dr Yunus and to protest against the government’s move to dismantle the Grameen Bank.”
