Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday expressed her hope that the people of the country would give mandate to Awami League again as the country witnessed massive development in the last four and a half years.
“The people would cast vote for Awami League again as the party ensured peace, contained terrorism and militancy, curbed corruption, implemented massive uplift programmes and improved the quality of life of the people,” she said.
The premier said the people would surely cast vote for the AL again if they want peace and welfare and to eat filling up the stomach.
Hasina, also the AL chief, said her party is doing whatever is needed for turning Bangladesh into a self-dignified nation as it brought independence of the country under the leadership of Bangabandhu.
She said this while delivering her introductory speech at a view-exchange meeting with grassroots leaders of the party of eight districts at her official Gono Bhaban residence in the afternoon.
As part of a series of view-exchange meetings to finalise probable party candidates for parliamentary seats in the next national election, the AL president on Friday exchanged views with presidents and general secretaries of Comilla South and North districts, Chittagong city, South and North districts, Rangpur city and district and Pabna district unit of the party and their thana, upazila and grade-I pourasabha units.
The ruling party has initiated the series of view exchange meetings between its president and grassroots leaders on September 4 and it would continue till October 12.
