Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has warned that opposition leader Khaleda Zia would be implicated in Sunday’s violence by Hefajat-e Islam as “an instigator”.
The premier said Khaleda will be held responsible for the mayhem. “People have been killed and the copies of holy Quran burnt at her directives. She will be accused of giving orders.”
She was speaking at a views-exchange meeting with her party’s Feni district unit leaders at Gono Bhaban on Thursday.
Each and everyone involved in this notorious act will be found out by scanning video footage and brought to book, she warned.
Hasina, who heads the governing Awami League, alleged the BNP chairperson wanted to overthrow the government banking on the Hefajat and for this reason Khaleda gave a 48-hour ultimatum and asked the radical Islamist group to stay in Dhaka.
