The 60-hour long hartal would not hamper the initiative of holding dialogue over polls-time government, said BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today.
The BNP leader came up with the remark a day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina invited her archrival BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia over phone for a dialogue on the election-time government, the centre point of the ongoing political impasse that led to the recent countrywide violence.
During his press briefing at the party’s central office at Nayapaltan, Fakhrul also thanked the PM for her invitation to BNP chief Khaleda, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, for talks on the election-time government.
Hasina, during a phone call to Khaleda yesterday evening, invited her to the Gono Bhaban, the official residence of the prime minister, Tuesday night for talks about the next parliamentary election.
Fakhrul was briefing newsmen on the hartal situation in the morning.
About holding talks, Fakhrul said they are ready to hold dialogue at anytime and anywhere after wrapping up of the ongoing hartal.
They will also finalise their next course of action after judging the government’s attitude, he said.
