The government servants will get dearness allowance before a permanent pay commission is implemented, Finance Minister AMA Muhith announced Thursday.
“A gazette notification will be published on the pay commission and the dearness allowance next month,” the minister said at the Secretariat in the capital.
Officials are now working on the terms of reference of the pay commission, Muhith added while talking to reporters after a meeting with Village Police Employees’ Union.
The government is likely to provide the public servants with 20 percent of dearness allowance, which may come into effect from July this year, sources at the ministry said.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the finance minister had said the government would set up a permanent pay commission for the government employees before the end of its tenure.
