Awami League will root out the war criminals and collaborators from the country if voted to power again, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said Monday.
“Bombings, grenade attacks and killings will resume if the AL does not return to power,” he alleged while addressing a rally at Madhupur Rani Bhabani High School ground in Madhupur of Tangail Monday.
Terming the next general election “very crucial”, Joy said, the ruling AL had brought war criminals to book for their crimes committed during the Liberation War in 1971.
“If we assume the power, verdicts of all the convicted war criminals will be executed,” he said.
“Now, it’s upon you whether you vote AL to power for the development of the country,” he added.
He further said if the BNP-Jamaat alliance returns to power, they will increase the price of fertiser, which the AL-led government reduced recently.
“You will not get the community healthcare facilities and uninterrupted power supply,” he said.
The ruling AL organised the rally, marking Joy’s first ever political tour.
More than 50,000 people swarmed on the school premises to welcome Joy, grandson of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Earlier around 9:40am, Joy started for Tangail from Mymensingh Circuit House around 9:40am.
Several arches have been erected in the district to welcome Joy.
