Law enforcers on Friday arrested eight people at Shahjalal International Airport in the capital as they were attempting overseas travels using fake documents.
Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) picked them up from the departure lounge of the airport with fake passports and visas in their possession, said Jahed Pervez Chowdhury, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of APBn.
The arrestees were identified as Md Alamgir Hossain, 25, Md Jasim Mia, 21, Md Khairul Islam, 25, Saiful Islam, 22, Md Al Amin Sarkar, 26, Md Aminul Islam, 28, Md Lal Mia, 36 and Md Nurul Islam.
Alamgir, Jasim, Khairul and Saiful were trying to board a flight of Mihin Lanka Airways to Cambodia while others to board a Brunei-bound flight, he added.
A case has been filed in this connection with the Airport Police Station.
