Police arrested four more members of a robbers’ gang in the capital’s Mugda area for their involvement in killing a 20-year-old college student during a robbery.
Bokhtiar Mohammad Latif, was A-level student of Academia, was shot dead by an unidentified gang in the presence of his parents during the robbery in Jatrabari on September 13. Latif was the only child of the couple.
The law enforcers first arrested Akhter and Khalil during a raid in the city around 7:00pm on Saturday, Monirul Islam, joint commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said at a press briefing.
Later according to the information of the duo, police arrested Rustom Ali Haolader and Jalal Uddin Jalal around 11:30pm, said the DB official.
The press briefing was held at the DMP media center in the capital.
Earlier, law enforcers arrested another two robbers of the gang named Swapan and Habib on October 10, Monirul Islam said.
The Saturday’s raid was made on the basis of the information given by Swapan and Habib, the police official said.
Akhter was the mastermind of the eight-member gang, said the DB official.
On September 13, Khalil shot Latif dead in front of his parents around 3:00am, Monirul said.
He said police have been searching the other two remaining robbers of the group after the incident.
