Beheaded body of 'abducted' BNP activist found
Beheaded body of an 'abducted' BNP activist was found at a maize field at Sadhuhati village in Sadar upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Aziz, 38, son of late Abu Taleb of Bhuiyapara village in Harinakunda upazila. Aziz was Jubo Dal vice president of Daulatpur union of the upazila.
Dak Bangla police camp in-charge Imrul Hossain said a gang of armed criminals went to the house of Aziz at Bhuiyanpara village on Sunday midnight and called him out to 'discuss upazila polls'.
Later local people found the decapitated body of Aziz in a maize field near a cremation ground at Sadhuhati village in the morning and informed police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Jhenidah Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
Officer in-charge of Harinakunda police station Mohibul Islam said, Aziz was a cadre of the outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party (Moazzem group). He recently joined BNP, the OC added.
Harinakunda upazila chairman candidate M A Mozid, also upzila BNP general secretary, claimed Aziz was murdered by rival partymen over campaigning for him in the upcoming upazila election.
