BCL suspends JnU top leaders
The central executive committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of ruling Awami League, today temporarily suspended its two top leaders of Jagannath University unit.
The suspended leaders are -- Sirajul Islam, general secretary and Shamim Ahmed, organising secretary – of JnU unit BCL.
An emergency meeting of the committee concluded that the leaders were to be suspended for anti-organisational activities, a BCL press release said.
Meanwhile, earlier on Saturday, JnU authorities suspended these two BCL leaders for threatening a teacher at gunpoint, demanding that instead of a contractor, they be given the relevant document to procure Tk 5 lakh worth of furniture.
The press release also said that joint secretary of JnU unit of BCL Mofizul Islam was given charge of general secretary.
