BCL leader 'threatens to kill' journo
A journalist has lodged a general diary against the general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League of Rajshahi University unit for allegedly threatening to kill him.
Amzad Hossain Shimul, a staff reporter of Daily Amader Shomoy at Rajshahi and also a fourth year student of mass communication and journalism department, filed the GD with Motihar Police Station Saturday night against SM Tawhid Al Hossain alias Tuhin.
Shimul in the GD alleged that when Tuhin phoned him Saturday afternoon, he could not recognise him. Later, Tuhin threatened to kill him during the phone conversations for not having the BCL leader's phone number in his cell phone, he said.
He also alleged that Tuhin also threatened him with dire consequences if any report is published in this regard.
Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of the police station, told The Daily Star that taking the GD as a complaint, they would take action against the BCL leader after investigation.
Contacted, Tuhin told that Shimul had misbehaved with one of his friends and he had just uttered these words as a fun, adding: "Why didn't he (Shimul) save my cell number in his phone? I am the general secretary of Bangaladesh Chattra League of Rajshahi University unit."
Contacted, BCL central president Badiuzzaman Shohag said they would take action against the leader.
Rajshahi University based journalists and Rajshahi District Press Club protested the incident.
