BCL infighting kills Comilla businessman
A businessman was shot dead and two were injured critically in a gunfight between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Victoria Government College in Comilla this afternoon.
Ahsan Habib Sumu, 36, was caught in the gunfight while he tried to convince the BCL men not continue the clash in front of his residence in Munsef Bari area near the college around 1:45pm, police said.
Habib died on his way to Comilla Medical Collage and Hospital (CMCH), Khorshed Alam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
The body was later sent to the medical college for autopsy, reports a correspondent from Daudkandi.
Two BLC activists -- Pritom, 22, and Priom, 21, -- who sustained bullet wounds, were also sent to the hospital.
The gunfight took place between the supporters of the two BCL groups led by Russel and Rintu over establishing supremacy in the areas, the police official added.
The OC said a house owned by one Panna Chakrabarti was also vandalised during the gunfight.
Later, Pritom was sent to Dhaka for better treatment as his condition deteriorated, the official added.
