BCB XI keep final hopes alive
BCB XI kept their hopes of reaching the final of the Acharya Memorial Trophy alive after a 74-run victory against Bengal at Jadavpur University's 2nd Campus Ground, Salt Lake yesterday.
Their fate will now be decided by the outcome of today's last league match between Mumbai and Karnataka. Mumbai have already confirmed their final berth and if they beat Karnataka today, then BCB XI will be their opponents in the Final on November 2nd, at the same venue.
Bangladesh lost their first two matches against Mumbai and Karnataka but their huge victory in the last league game has kept them in contention for the final.
Nasir Hossain scored 74 and Naeem Islam contributed 61 as BCB XI piled up 309 for eight in 50 overs. Captain Anamul Haque (44) and Soumya Sarker (40) were the other notable scorers.
In reply, Bengal were bundled out for 235 runs.
Mohammad Shahid did the early damage by taking three wickets, while left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny was the most successful with four wickets.
