BCB spells Tigers’ squad for ODI matches
Bangladesh Cricket Board today announced the Tigers’ squad for the first two one day internationals (ODI) of the five-match series against Zimbabwe, a BCB press release said.
Mashrafe Mortaza will lead the Tigers team comprising of Shakib Al Hasan (vice captain), Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque Bijoy, Mominul Hoque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmud Ullah, Shabbir Rahaman, Imrul Kayes, Al Amin Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Arafat Sunny and Jubair Hossain.
Shakib Al Hasan who made a comeback to cricket through the Test series against Zimbabwe following a disciplinary ban, will resurface in the ODIs.
Shafiul Islam, who took key wickets against Zimbabwe during the third Test at Chittagong was excluded. Shamsur Rahman, who could not perform in the second Test was also dropped.
Nasir Hossain, who did not make it to the Test squad also failed to make it to the first two ODIs.
Sohag Gazi is currently on ban for his bowling action.
On the other hand, Jubair, who took his maiden five-wicket haul in the third Test against Zimbabwe, was included in the ODI matches.
Left arm spinner Arafat Sunny was called in to the side along with batsman Sabbir Rahman.
The first two ODIs of the Bashundhara Cement ODI Series 2014 between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will be held at Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on November 21 and November 23 respectively. Both are day-night matches.
The remainder of the ODI matches will be held on November 26, November 28 and December 1 in Dhaka. They are all day-night matches.
