Bangladeshi shot dead by BSF in Satkhira
A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members in Indian territory opposite to Boikari border in Satkhira Sadar upazila early today.
The deceased was Ayub Ali, 35, son of Shamser Ali of Boikari village.
Locals said the BSF troops from Gazipur camp opened fire on a group of Bangladeshi nationals including Ayub when he along with his other associates was returning with cattle from India through the border point at about 3:30am, leaving him dead on the spot.
The associates of Ayub, however, managed to escape the BSF firing.
Later, the fellows brought the body to Bangladesh territory.
Contacted, Major Ahsan Habib, operation officer of BGB battalion-32, said they heard about the incident and were trying to look into the matter.
