Bangladeshi beaten dead by BSF
A 14-year-old Bangladeshi boy was beaten to death by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members on Johorpur frontier of Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila this afternoon.
The victim is identified as Md Liton Miah, 14, son of Anarul Islam of Belpara village in Sadar upazila, reports our Chapainawabganj correspondent.
BGB official said Indian trrops of Pirojpur camp caught Liton and beat him mercilessly when he along with another teenager mistakenly entered the Indian territory while cutting grass around noon.
They left Liton on the no-man’s land in a critical condition, the correspondent said quoting Lt Col Zafar Sheikh Zafar Sheikh Mohammad Bazlul Haque, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh battalion-9.
Later, locals rescued Liton but he succumbed around 1:30pm on way to his house, the BGB official said.
BGB condemned the killing and issued a protest note in this regard, according to the official.
A commander-level flag meeting between the BGB and BSF is likely to be held at zero point in this regard.
