Bangladesh wins big against Mexico in World Hockey League
Bangladesh made a superb come back in their second match in the second phase of World Hockey League in Singapore by defeating Mexico 6-1, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
After a goalless first quarter, Mexico took the lead with Alexis Campillo’s 19th minute goal in the second quarter, but Bangladesh soon took control of the match in the third quarter of the game with Sarwar’s equalizer in the 32nd minute from a penalty corner.
Bangladesh scored 5 more goals in the match. Sarwar scored two more goals in the 50th and the 60th minute of the game, while Jimmi scored 2 goals in the 37th and 44th minute and Pushkar Khisha scored one goal in the 43rd minute.
This win was expected as Bangladesh ranks ahead of Mexico. Bangladesh ranks 30th while Mexico ranks 35th in World Hockey.
Bangladesh lost 5-1 against strong opposition Japan in their first match of Pool-B. They will play against Poland in their last group match on Tuesday.
Bangladesh got qualified to play in the second phase of World Hockey League being the champion of the first phase.
