Bangladesh recognized as one of the best outsourcing destinations in the world
World renowned management consulting firm AT Kearney has recently published a report on the development of the IT sector in Bangladesh, In that report it was stated that in terms of ‘Financial Attractiveness’ is in the number one position. The statement made in the publication is a matter of prestige for all IT professionals of this country, and therefore to announce it and celebrate this achievement, this press conference was called. Mr Shamim Ahsan, President of BASIS and present with him was Mr Russel T Ahmed, Secretart General of BASIS, Mr Uttam Kumar Pal, Chairman of BASIS, Mr Sami Ahmed, Executive Director of BASIS and Mr Fahim Mashroor ex-President of BASIS was present during the press briefing . Present as Chief Guest was State Minister of ICT Division- Mr Zunaid Ahmed Palak,
Mr Zunaid Ahmed Palak had the following to say at event “At Kearney’s report will help attract more foreign investors to the country. The development in the ICT sector in Bangladesh has been massive in the last 5 years. Number of internet users has grown from 13 lakhs to 4 crore 80 lakhs. We are hopeful it will continue to increase in the future.”
Mr Shamim Ahsan also spoke at the press conference. He said “In AT Kearneys report “Global Location Services Index” or (GSLI) Bangladesh IT services have been included for the first time. In the race for development in the field of IT, Bangladesh currently holds the 26th position. BASIS will work to bring Bangladesh up to within the top 10 countries.
Mr Russel T Ahmed said “When foreigners are going to think about investing in Bangladesh, they wil be looking for reports such as AT Kearneys GSLI report to help make that decision. Only if the investors find positives information about Bangladesh will they come here to invest.”
