In Memory of Faraaz: Daffodil Univ to introduce scholarship
Daffodil International University yesterday announced that it would introduce a scholarship after Faraaz Ayaaz Hossain in recognition of his bravery during the Holey Artisan terror attack last year.
Faraaz was one of the 22 people killed in the July 1 terror attack in the capital's Gulshan.
The private university would also launch a scholarship after Transcom Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Latifur Rahman, grandfather of Faraaz.
The announcement was made at a lecture session on “entrepreneurship towards creativity” on the university campus in the capital.
Latifur Rahman, an award-winning entrepreneur, gave the lecture before a large gathering of students and faculties.
“I am overwhelmed,” Rahman said after the announcement of the scholarships.
The industrialist, who won the prestigious 2012 Oslo Business for Peace Award for maintaining commitment to social responsibility and ethical values, said the Group would welcome students from the DIU if they want to work as interns in the companies of the conglomerate.
At the programme, a group of students presented a sketch of Faraaz to Rahman in tribute to bravery of his grandson.
