Essential Commodities: DNCC to put up price charts at markets
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will be putting up price charts of essential commodities in its markets from the first day of the Ramadan in a bid to maintain the prices of essentials.
The decision was made at a view-exchange meeting with traders of different kitchen market traders at DNCC office following a discussion that traders hike prices of different commodities at their own will during the Ramadan.
Meeting sources said that the traders assured the city corporation they will follow the chart while DNCC said it will monitor the markets to ensure this.
The meeting also decided to fix the price of red meat as fixed by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Tuesday.
DSCC mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon has fixed prices of beef, buffalo meat and mutton (goat and sheep) at Tk 475, Tk 440, Tk 725 and Tk 620 per kilogramme respectively for Ramadan. Depending on the sighting of the new moon Ramadan is likely to start at the end of this month.
At the meeting DNCC also decided to sell fruits free from chemicals at different points within the DNCC area during Ramadan.
DNCC Chief Executive Officer Mesbahul Islam chaired the meeting.
