Ashraf meets prime minister again
Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday evening at Gono Bhaban.
This was his third meeting with Hasina, also the AL president, since he was removed from the LGRD ministry on July 9 and made a minister without portfolio.
Yesterday, Ashraf went to Gono Bhaban after Iftar and stayed there for some time.
Earlier, he met the premier twice -- on Sunday and Tuesday -- at Gono Bhaban.
Following Ashraf's removal, an uneasy situation is prevailing within the ruling party as many AL leaders and activists are still frustrated over the decision.
However, no one wanted to talk the media about this as the decision was made by Hasina herself.
Besides, speculation runs rife that the PM may offer Ashraf "something bigger" like the post of the deputy leader of parliament or the foreign minister to pacify him. But none from the government or the party could confirm it.
Ashraf was scheduled to fly to London yesterday to celebrate Eid with his family, but he cancelled it, according to sources, on the PM's request.
