8 Malaysia-bound fortune seekers rescued
Bangladesh Coast Guard yesterday rescued eight Malaysia-bound fortune seekers from a boat at the outer anchorage of Chittagong port.
Four alleged brokers were also detained from the boat that the eight had boarded to go to Malaysia illegally by sea.
On suspicion, a patrol team of the Coast Guard caught the engine-run boat around 6:15pm, said Lt Commander Durul Huda of Bangladesh Coast Guard (east zone).
The boat had started its journey from the port city's Majhirghat area around 5:00pm. The victims are from Chittagong, Magura, Narsingdi, Mymensingh and Bogra, he said.
The victims and the “brokers” would be handed over to Patenga Police Station, he added.
