“Our biryani is more delicious than Hyderabad's”
Jaya Ahsan has been busy with shoots in Dhaka and Kolkata. Her film “Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini 2” releases today in Dhaka and other parts of the country. The national film award winner talked about her latest film in a conversation with The Daily Star.
What are your expectations from “PDPK2”?
Jaya: My expectations are sky high. I hope the audiences will come to theatre and receive the movie warmly because it is made purely with them in mind. I am counting on a box office success.
Why should people go to theatres to watch the film?
Jaya: Many reasons. First, it is an original story. It has a great plot. People always look for a good story in a film and I think this film fits the bill. It is a totally family movie, and you can enjoy it with your whole family.
Tell us about your character in it.
Jaya: I play the role of a model and my co-star, Shakib Khan, appears as a cricketer. At one stage, we fall in love but later some obstacles arise in our relationship. At the same time there is an element of patriotism in the film.
What is the music for the film like?
Jaya: The playback songs for the film are fantastic. Emon (Saha) did a very good job here. A strong plot and catchy music are the lifeline of a film.
Any memorable moments on the location abroad?
Jaya: The film was shot in Ramoji film city, Hyderabad. While Moushumi was busy with shoots, I along with (Shahidul Alam) Sacchu and Emon had a fun time shopping. But one thing I must tell you: our country's biryani is far better than that of Hyderabad.
What was your experience working with Shakib Khan?
Jaya: It is my second work with him. He is a successful protagonist of box office hits. I am very happy to have got him as co-star.
What is your shooting schedule right now?
Jaya: Recently, I've signed a film named “Lal Moroger Jhuti” under the direction of Nurul Alam Atik. Soon, I will leave Dhaka for its shooting. Apart from this, I returned Dhaka from Kolkata after wrapping up shooting for a short film directed by Indronil Chowdhury. Apart from this, I wrapped up shooting for the Kolkata film “Eagle Er Chokh” directed by Arindam Sheel. However, dubbing of the film is yet to be done.
