Ensemble Theatre stages “Kokila”
Ensemble Theatre, a prominent drama troupe here staged "Kokila", a play based against child abuse and repression on women at Mymensingh Zila Shilpakala Academy auditorium Tuesday evening.
It was the 19th stage programme of the troupe, protesting countrywide sexual harassment, rape and other social crimes.
The play adopted from eminent playwright Abdullah Al Mamun's "Kokilara", was directed by Abul Monsur, presdient of the troupe.
Abul Mondur and Tabassum Bonnya were the cast of the play.
The play was assisted by SM Wares Hasan, Asaduzzaman Rubel and Joy Saha.
Earlier, a discussion was held, titled "Mullyabodh Jagoron".
Deputy commissioner of Mymensingh Mustakim Billah Faruqui, FBCCI director Aminul Haque Shamim, Bangladesh Mohila parishad president additional police superintendent Abu Ahmmad Al Mamun, Ferdous Ara Mahmuda Helen, chief adviser of Onsumble Theatre Nurul Amin Kalam and journalsit Neamul Kabir Sajal addressed the inaugural session.
The speakers were of the view that the programme is special one as it organised to create awareness among the people about different types of social crimes through various programmes. inclduing staging of plays.
The pitiable condition of children and women in the prevailing social structure depicts the degradation of moral values and impatience of a section of people, they said.
Later, a mass oath taking programme was conducted against children and women repression.
The same programme will be organised at all upazilas in phases, to create public awareness against the social crimes to make the country livable for all, said the organisers.
