Busy days ahead for Sudip Chakroborthy
Talented theatre director and teacher Sudip Chakroborthy heads for Kolkata today. He is going there for a week to design stage and lights for Anik Theatre, Kolkata's new production "Shakuntala". The play is scripted and directed by Amol Chakrabarty, with support from the Indian government.
"It is really a privilege to undertake theatre art for another country. I think it is recognition of our excellence and hard work," said Chakroborthy.
Chakroborthy recently directed "Shakespeare Saptak", incorporating excerpts from seven Shakespearean plays. The play is written by Rubaiyat Ahmed and produced by Padatik Natya Sangshad. Chakroborthy is directing another production "Gahonjatra" that will come on stage next July. He has also been invited by the National Theatre of Scotland to direct "Memori" with Diaspora Bangladeshi in October. Once again he will head to Kolkata in December at the invitation of Rangakarmi, Kolkata to direct Natyacharya Selim Al Deen's "Swarnoboal".
