6th Nat'l Youth Theatre Fest concludes today
The "6th National Youth Theatre Festival 2017" concludes today at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). People's Theatre Association (PTA), in association with BSA has organised the six-day (September 30-October 5) festival.
Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office, Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury inaugurated the festival as chief guest on September 30. Cultural Affairs Secretary Ibrahim Hossain Khan, renowned thespian Ataur Rahman and secretary general of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation Akhtaruzzaman attended the ceremony as special guests. Director General of BSA and founder of PTA Liaquat Ali Lucky presided over the inaugural programme.
Nine theatre troupes from universities and colleges and 18 troupes from all over the country are taking their plays to the festival that features 32 productions. Each day five plays are being staged at Studio Theatre Hall and National Music and Dance Auditorium of BSA simultaneously at 6:30pm.
Alongside theatres, the festival has also featured a workshop, comedy show, theatre games and performance art, while a youth cultural congress has been arranged as part of the festival.
On the opening day, Jhenidah Polytechnic Institute staged their play "Swapna Grohon", directed by Arif Al Azad, at the auditorium of National Theatre Hall of BSA.
Youth Theatre staged the play "Mukti" and Natyabhumi from Tongi brought their play "Mohabipod" at the Studio Theatre Hall, while Sherpur Natya Sampraday staged their play "Khepa Paglar Pechal", Genesis Theatre staged "Ekjon Anmona" and Ankur Theatre from Jhenaidah brought "Sundor" on stage at the Music and Dance Department on the second day (October 1).
The closing ceremony of the festival will take place at the National Dance and Music Centre auditorium of BSA today.
