“Shunte Ki Pao!” on Amazon, Google, iTunes
Kamar Ahmad Simon's acclaimed documentary “Shunte Ki Pao!” is being released online for the first time. The movie is released as a Video on Demand for streaming across 110 countries around the globe, on Amazon Video, Google Play and iTunes. This also marks the first time a Bangladeshi film is being released across top-tier global streaming platforms.
The news was revealed on the film's official Facebook page on Thursday.
“Shunte Ki Pao!” released in 2013 and toured the international festival circuit, bagging several international awards including the Grand Prix from Paris, Golden Conch from Mumbai, and a National Film Award from Bangladesh, along with screenings in major festivals like Dok-Leipzig and IDFA.
“This news is not only important to me, but for the film industry in Bangladesh as a whole. Many people, particularly expatriate Bangladeshis sent me numerous letters to release the film's DVD, so this is good news for them too.”
“Shunte Ki Pao!” is the first piece of Simon's 'Water Trilogy'. His next venture in the series is “Day After Tomorrow”, which won the Open Doors grant for best script last year at Locarno Film Festival. Simon has also been selected among 16 directors at Cannes' L'Atelier programme this year.
