Shanu continues her passion for poetry
Shanarei Devi Shanu began her journey in the show business through winning the Lux-Channel i Superstar pageant, and has crafted a successful career as a TV actress and model, even venturing into films.
The actress' penchant for poetry prompted her to publish her first book of poetry, “Neel Phoring Kabbo” at last year's Ekushey Book Fair. And encouraged by the response, she is publishing a follow up at next year's book fair, titled “Laal Epitaph”. About 70 poems will feature in the book, most of them dealing with themes of love and nature. Eminent artist and illustrator Dhrubo Esh has designed the cover for it.
About her feelings on her next book, Shanu told The Daily Star: “It's a special kind of feeling, to see your own creation in print. It's hard to express in words. I got good response from readers last year, and I hope it continues this year.”
When asked when she finds time to write poems within her busy schedule, Shanu says: “Whenever I am in the mood; sometimes at night, sometimes at dawn, sometimes afternoon. I have had the habit of writing from my childhood.”
Writing is still very much a hobby for the actress, though, who is spending busy time with acting. She just returned from Bangkok, shooting for Rajibul Islam Rajib-directed TV series “Hing Ting Chhot”. It is currently airing on Channel i. Another TV series starring Shanu, “Mon Chhuyeche Mon”, is being aired on SATV. Manik Manobik is directing the series.
