Udichi Honours SBBK Artistes
A two day (March 27-28) “Satyen Sen Ganosangeet Utshab and National Ganosangeet Competition 2015” ended yesterday at Nandan Mancha of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Organised by Udichi, noted folk artiste Swapan Kumar Halder inaugurated the festival on March 27. The organisers honoured artistes of Shadhin Bangla Betar Kendra (SBBK) at the event. Syed Hasan Imam, Ashfakur Rahman Khan, Timir Nandi, Ziauddin Tareq Ali, Monwar Hossain Khan, Namita Ghosh, Golam Rabbani, Kazi Tamanna and Fakir Alamgir were among those to receive the honours.
Artistes of Udichi presented a medley of spirited melodies composed by timeless ganosangeet writers, composers and artistes of various countries of the world. A discussion was held at the venue where artistes of SBBK took part. Kamal Lohani, veteran journalist, cultural personality and president of Udichi Central Committee, presided over the discussion. Later, the winning artistes of the national ganosangeet competition, noted ganosangeet artistes and troupes performed in a cultural programme.
On the concluding day (March 28), the guests gave certificates and crests to the winners of the competition, comprising four categories. Both prominent and promising artistes with troupes performed at the event. Udichi will also arrange a ganosangeet event at Shawkat Osman Memorial auditorium of Central Public Library, Shahbagh on March 30. Shubhaprasad Nandi Majumdar, Shabnam Surita Dana and Swapan Kumar Halder will perform at the event.
To diffuse ganosangeet in every nook and corner of Bangladesh and to celebrate the birth anniversary of Satyen Sen, the founding president of Udichi, the organisation has been arranging the festival and competition since 2009.
