A thousand Italians perform Foo Fighters' “Learn to Fly” live
Dave Grohl may have a broken leg right now, but that hasn't stopped the Foo Fighters from touring -- and now, 1,000 Italians are campaigning pretty convincingly for the rock band to visit their hometown.
Citizens from all over the Italy recently traveled to the northern city of Cesena to band together and show the Foos they can rock too, performing and filming a 1,000-person version of the group's 1999 hit “Learn to Fly”.
The hope is the 'Rockin 1000” -- as the event was called -- will convince the Foo Fighters to play a concert in Cesena. Organizer Fabio Zaffagnini said in the video he spent a year putting this together.
Arrays of drum sets were set up on an open field where drummers took seat, guitarists and bassists lined up with plugged instruments and groups stood in circles around microphones to sing the entire song in chorus.
“Italy is a country where dreams cannot easily come true but it's a land of passion and creativity,” Zaffagnini said.
The Foo Fighters are currently scheduled to perform in Casalecchio Di Reno, Italy, on November 13 -- about an hour away from Cesena.
The band responded to the video on Thursday, saying, “Che bello, Cesena”, which translates to “How beautiful”.
