A noble initiative for children
Distressed Children & Infants International (DCI), a US-based non-profit organisation and Rights & Sight for Children (RSC) jointly organised a concert called 'Concert for Children' at KIB Auditorium on March 23. With the theme “Journey for Child Rights & Sight” the concert was aimed at awareness-building and fundraising for initiatives to protect children rights at home and abroad.
Actor Babita and singer Sabina Yasmin, both of whom are Goodwill Ambassadors of DCI, were present on the occasion.
Dance performance by Monira Parvin Happy, and performances by DCI Sun Child Music group (consisting children of the DCI orphanage), Benuka Institute of Fine Arts, Tauri Foundation and Mashuda Bonni featured at the concert. Sabina Yasmin was the headliner of the concert, and enthralled the audience with her melodious songs.
“At DCI, we are relentlessly working to provide the indispensable rights of the distressed children. With the help of this fund that we manage to raise from the concert, we would be able to help more children,” said Dr. Ehsan Hoque, Executive Director of DCI. “This is teamwork of roughly ten thousand donors worldwide and we expect people of all walks of life to join us to help the distressed children,” he added.
Babita said, “I feel specially honoured to work for the underprivileged children. I am delighted to talk to them and pass time with them.” Sabina Yasmin expressed her pleasure to be DCI's Goodwill Ambassador. “Children have special talents, as I see. What they need is proper guidance”, she further added.
