FÊTE DE LA MUSIQUE at La Galerie
Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) celebrated Fête de la Musique 2017, globally known as World Music Day with a series of musical performances at its La Galerie on June 21.
The daylong event featured solo and group songs performances in Bangla, English and French languages along with piano, guitar and flute recitals.
Fête de la Musique brings a great opportunity to immerse and participate in a musical expedition by offering thousands of free concerts all over the world. Celebrated on every 21st June, the day of the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere, the Fête de la Musique was begun in 1982 by the then French minister for culture Jack Lang.
In 1985, the Fête de la Musique became European and now more than 120 countries and around 350 cities participate in the event. The Fête de la Musique is a free 'fête', open to any participants whether amateur or professional musicians. It celebrates live music in all its diversity like orchestra, opera and choir.
