All set for Eluveitie in Dhaka
Fans of heavy metal music in Bangladesh have long held the regret of not being able to see any international acts perform in Bangladesh: the closest the fans have come to watching an international rock act have been Michael Learns to Rock, Brian Adams (at a World Cup opening ceremony) and former GnR guitarist Gilby Clark. So it's no surprise when news broke out the Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie was going to perform in Dhaka, anticipation ran high. It may not rank among the most prominent heavy metal bands of our time, but there has been a growing fandom of Celtic metal music in Bangladesh, and thanks to the popularity of tracks like “Inis Mona” and “A Rose for Epona”, Eluveitie is a somewhat familiar name.
The band had confirmed in a video message that they were coming to perform in Dhaka on May 26 (Thursday) at the International Convention City Bashundhara, and Green Events, amped the hype with a pre-booking of tickets. A week ahead of the concert, general tickets also went on sale this week, and have seen largely positive response.
Tanvir Ahmed, the CEO of Green, says “The response so far has been beyond our expectations. There are still some tickets available for sale, but we hope to sell out before the concert. Considering financial constraints for students, we had offered a discounted price last weekend.”
Tickets are available on ticketchai.com, outlets of Fortuna Fried Chicken and Deshal. They can also be bought directly from Green Events by calling phone numbers given on their Facebook page.
