Golam Farida Chanda is a popular TV actress whose seasoned skills have filled the small screen for over a decade. Her pace has not slowed over the years, having still been busy with acting projects in TV plays to this day. However, the actor will be moving to the big screen for the first time, and today she chats with the Daily Star about her new venture.
Could you tell us a bit about your new role?
Chanda: The title of the film is “Arpita.” It's the first time I am working in a film, and it has been produced and distributed by Impress Tele-films. Shahriar Nazim Joy is the director, and we have begun shooting. I hope that we come up with something good for the audience!
How does it feel to be working in film for the first time?
Chanda: I am extremely excited. I have had offers to work in film before, but never had the opportunity to go for it. However, I have accepted this role for several reasons. The director is someone I know closely, and is a friend and colleague, and also the script is beautiful and has moved me to the point where I could not let this chance slide.
What is “Arpita” about?
Chanda: Arpita, the titular role after whom the film has been named, is a girl from an extremely poor family. She goes through many struggles in life and has a daughter of her own. She later finds success in life. I am cast in her role and I feel it carries a positive message to the audience, and I know viewers will enjoy the story.
